00:45:44 Guest14: hello all
01:50:52 angled:matrix.angled.rip: moonero
01:50:58 angled:matrix.angled.rip: :3
02:24:17 ilha:matrix.org: Any news or rumors that might explain the price spike up in XMR in the last 24 hours?
02:25:03 lostish:matrix.org: I haven't checked Monero in a while, it's gone up so much recently?! Incredible...
02:25:42 lostish:matrix.org: @ilha:matrix.org: maybe regulations ?
02:25:53 ilha:matrix.org: XMR/USD hit $598 on Kraken in the last 24 hours.
02:26:47 lostish:matrix.org: yeah, is cool
02:27:10 ravfx:xmr.mx: Its all speculation at that point, for the why
02:27:43 lostish:matrix.org: If we expect a drop, perhaps 10-15% is what we will experience; if it's neither of those, then take advantage.
02:35:36 angled:matrix.angled.rip: @ilha:matrix.org: sol degens leaving zcash for something mildly shinier
02:36:10 ravfx:xmr.mx: Also a possibility considering there recent meltdown
02:36:15 angled:matrix.angled.rip: or since, you know, their whole dev team exited
02:36:17 angled:matrix.angled.rip: yeah
02:37:01 ravfx:xmr.mx: They pumped
02:37:02 ravfx:xmr.mx: Then dumped
02:37:02 ravfx:xmr.mx: Then they dont need the ecc anymore
03:17:22 BlueyHealer: ofrnxmr, yeah, that's a point. Blocking network access works but I wish there was a more convenient way. There are also some requests it does (like time sync and connectivity checks) that are listed on the website, and I don't think there was evidence of anything extra. Still, that doesn't send out the personal data telemetry so that's what I was after.
06:07:32 sbt:nope.chat: Woah monero hit ATM
06:07:55 sbt:nope.chat: about time
06:11:56 waterbuffalo: Congratulations all bag holders and miners
07:37:20 remake6316:matrix.org: graphene prioritises security over everything else. hence why they recommend google play store as the primary app store. that said, it' still the most secure AND most private mobile experience today. > <@ofrnxmr> Right.
07:38:18 ofrnxmr: Sure sure
07:46:22 sech1: Yes, when I asked about installing some apps from f-droid, they acted like it was some blasphemy
07:54:34 remake6316:matrix.org: Could you link the thread? I'd be curious to see it. I understand there is something with F-droid where there is no automatic key verification or something like that and there is more trust placed in the devs. Despite that I've heard there is actually less malware in the F-droid app than the Google Play Store app
07:59:52 BlueyHealer: Yeah, their stance on Play Store I really don't like.
08:01:23 ofrnxmr: @remake6316:matrix.org: Of course theres less malware in fdroid. Fdroid apps have to be have source availablr
08:01:30 BlueyHealer: TBH I don't think F-Droid's moderation for malware is that strict. It's just that a) it's harder to put malware into FOSS without it being discovered; b) F-Droid is less popular in general.
08:01:48 ofrnxmr: Google play is full if freemium proprietsry spyware
08:01:56 BlueyHealer: Source-available? I assumed it was stricter, because, say, Grayjay wasn't allowed in.
08:02:00 kaigoh:gohegan.uk: BlueyHealer: I totally get your view, and I agree - however, their stance makes sense. It is because the Play Store seems to be the only source of APKs that verifies signatures...
08:02:10 BlueyHealer: What about Obtainium?
08:02:30 ofrnxmr: BlueyHealer: i only said source availabke because im not 100% sure what licenses they allow
08:02:35 remake6316:matrix.org: @ofrnxmr: yeah but doesn't F-droid themselves compile the binaries? So you have to trust the f-droid team?
08:04:02 ofrnxmr: BlueyHealer: Thats just a tool tl download from whatever source you enter into it. Like github releases. you can upload anythinf you want to the github releases, so theres no way for obtainium to verify that the apk match the repo source
08:04:20 lza_menace: does monerujo still support lws? i thought they did at one point, i can't figure out how to configure it
08:04:26 BlueyHealer: TBH I'm fine with that, given that F-Droid hasn't betrayed trust in that way. Also, at least some of the apps have reproducible builds.
08:04:37 ofrnxmr: @lza_menace: Never did :(
08:04:52 ofrnxmr: Just edge and now skylight (rip mymonero)
08:04:55 lza_menace: oh, so pretty much just skylight
08:05:37 BlueyHealer: I personally am mostly F-Droid and it has already helped me - when Simple Mobile Tools got purchased and turned malicious.
08:05:42 ofrnxmr: Edge supports lws, but is convoluted with their account model
08:05:54 ofrnxmr: Id recommend using the develop branch of lws. Imo its more stable than master
08:06:25 ofrnxmr: BlueyHealer: Same. I use fdroid whenever possible
08:08:24 ofrnxmr: accrescent allows proprietary apps and doesnt tell you which, so i dont use it. It also has straight up dead apps in it (like rimusic)
08:08:27 BlueyHealer: I do use Obtainium for some apps where I need updates more quickly, or that aren't on F-Droid. But that's very few.
08:08:52 ofrnxmr: i use obtainium for cromite
08:56:47 soulexemar:matrix.org: @ilha:matrix.org: Higher
08:56:59 soulexemar:matrix.org: job’s not finished
09:22:53 remake6316:matrix.org: why is LTC price so low / stable? this is really good for us coinswapping to avoid governments knocking asking where it went (XMR), as they often do once things moon
16:53:03 lza_menace: vtnerd: if i am restoring an old wallet using lws and it has many transactions to various subaddresses on both primary and additional accounts will those txes be found? or should it only be used for wallets where only primary address on account index 0 was used?
17:03:14 vtnerd: 0.3 branch requires lookahead client side which is buggy. Lwsf currently does this as it the only way in the initial subaddr spec. The master branch of lws supports server side lookahead but lwsf only supports it in a pr. I'm waiting to stabilize a 1.0 lws release before merging the lwsf pr
17:07:27 vtnerd: Lwsf tries to do manual subaddress lookahead automatically but is failing to allocate enough addresses > <@lza_menace> vtnerd: why might I receive these error messages constantly from lws? REST error: Max subaddresses exceeded - i'm using Skylight wallet and not using any subaddresses
17:13:44 lza_menace: Thanks. I’ve got it set to 200 for now. It works great man, I’m using skylight and it’s very reliable
17:23:40 Cindy_: i wonder if the monero-wallet URI could be "encrypted" by using an XOR cipher on most of the private variables (private view key, spend key, txids)
17:25:06 Cindy_: verifying if the URI decrypted successfully could be as simple as 1) XORing the spend key with the supplied decryption key 2) multiply it by Ed25519 basepoint (getting the public key from it) 3) compare the point against the public key within the address (which is not encrypted)
17:27:02 Cindy_: is this a good idea?
17:30:20 Cindy_: oh yeah i forgot a step 2) modulo it by the l group order
17:30:25 Cindy_: before multplying
19:19:30 kriek:matrix.org: Do you know the best site where i can swap eth for monero?
19:20:22 redsh4de:matrix.org: @kriek:matrix.org: https://kycnot.me/?categories=aggregator&currency-mode=or&currencies=xmr&max-kyc=0
19:20:22 redsh4de:matrix.org: You can choose from one of the aggregators in this list
19:20:24 Cindy_: retoswap
19:20:24 redsh4de:matrix.org: My personal favorite is Trocador
19:20:40 Cindy_: or i guess yeah
19:20:41 Cindy_: that counts
19:22:28 kriek:matrix.org: Retoswap is for buying from private I’m looking for something that swap directly eth/monero
19:26:02 redsh4de:matrix.org: Trocador is that
19:26:02 redsh4de:matrix.org: submit your XMR address, you get a ETH address. Send ETH, get XMR
19:26:03 redsh4de:matrix.org: nice and simple
22:31:32 zombie:catgirl.cloud: WOO MONERO IS UP ALL COINS ARE RED WHILE MONERO STAYS GREEN IM GLAD TO HAVE YOU GUYS WITH ME ON THIS JOURNEY $1K SOON BROTHERS.
22:36:24 ufo808:matrix.org: 😭😭😭
22:38:48 zombie:catgirl.cloud: @ufo808:matrix.org: Nigga why you laughing I’m hyped?
22:39:00 zombie:catgirl.cloud: I WAITED YEARS FOR THIS.
22:52:46 snake: i didnt have any xmr, seems like its too late every time i check the price
22:53:43 snake: although now especially seems very risky
23:05:17 ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: snake: It only gets worse everytime?
23:05:39 ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: i think theres a btc meme for you
23:11:21 snake: its hard to hodl for so long through rough periods. i'd rather start at the end of the rough period. even if it means i dont get the exact bottom
23:15:30 ufo808:matrix.org: rough periods like Qubic trying to 51%? I think everyone who was hesitant sold during that times
23:18:45 snake: no i mean like a bear market. i think i started around the time that story was going around and i didnt worry about it much
23:33:57 Cindy_: i wanna test out my monero program, and there's like one working stagenet node :P
23:34:29 Cindy_: there are a lot more mainnet nodes than stagenet or even testnet
23:34:45 Cindy_: and yeah i get why
23:36:50 ArsenyTarkovsky: did you check here? https://xmr.ditatompel.com/remote-nodes I see 5 stagenodes and 1 onion stage node
23:37:04 ArsenyTarkovsky: stagenet nodes*
23:37:06 Cindy_: yes, ditatompel's node is the only one that works
23:37:20 reaster:matrix.reaster.dev: okay wtf is happening,
23:37:20 reaster:matrix.reaster.dev: i thought that without major exchange we would not have this kinds of pumps?
23:37:30 Cindy_: xmr taiwan has a broken cert so no TLS
23:37:48 ArsenyTarkovsky: what is your monero program Cindy?
23:38:14 Cindy_: oh wait, i just realized all of the stagenet nodes on monero.fail (except ditatompel) are HTTP-only
23:38:26 Cindy_: ArsenyTarkovsky: i won't reveal it yet
23:39:16 ArsenyTarkovsky: reaster: I'm quite surprised too
23:39:37 Cindy_: also i wonder how you actually got my messages
23:39:48 Cindy_: you joined after i posted my messages
23:39:56 Cindy_: were you watching the logs?
23:40:02 ArsenyTarkovsky: yes :3
23:40:08 Cindy_: okay well makes sense :P
23:40:22 Cindy_: reaster: monero is special
23:40:45 Cindy_: xmr taiwan is the best because their stagenet faucet still works
23:40:52 Cindy_: it dispenses 1 XMR per entry
23:41:05 Cindy_: (ofc worthless cuz it's stagenet, but good for testing)
23:55:02 lza_menace: I test on mainnet
