As for hardware wallet, you have an issue on where each time you receive or send a payment (and receive change), you must have the wallet connected (You can't pay and remove the wallet, because it must be connected and unlocked for when the change get confirmed.), And sync get stuck the moment you receive a payment. to be fair, scanning tx_pool/mempool or https://github.com/vtnerd/monero-lws (still WIP) could be used for a shop, but yeah, that's also a valid usage, in my case, for example I'd like to have a donation progress bar on my project and provide viewkeys to others, obviously that's much easier to do with a view wallet

Worst with hardware wallet is when you sink from the seed. If you have like 2-3 years of history or more... You have to keep the ledger awake and unlock (regularly press next and prev button so it does not lock while syncing)
