(SS) forum is a disgusting place. I’ve heard about multiple suicides from children who were influenced by that forum. They claim to be a pro-suicide group, but only allow users who are 18 years old or older. Unfortunately, they don’t follow their own terms of service.

wtf
15:21:41
ohchase:envs.net:
Any thoughts on why the spy node adversary isn't adapting? Seems trivial for them to just set every unique ip they are routing a spy node through to maintain a consistent peer id, which in turn would make MRL's detection mechanism moot?
15:24:39
ofrnxmr:
They did adapt
15:25:07

15:25:55
ohchase:envs.net:
based on the sourcecode for that I am seeing it still identify by the 3 admin pings check if the id matches

boog900 has seen evidence of them disabling one detection mechanism (unless i read that in a dream)
16:21:11
ofrnxmr:
I had the same dream
16:30:40
plowsof:
another example is when Rucknium said " I think that the spy node on DigitalOcean and Hetzner are still there. About a month ago they started "hiding" themselves by not responding with the spy node fingerprint." and https://libera.monerologs.net/monero-research-lab/20251029

plowsof:
https://libera.monerologs.net/monero-research-lab/20251029#c604209 , but yeah they are definitely trying to evade

@ohchase:envs.net: The peers I called "class A" here have all corrected themselves: https://github.com/Boog900/p2p-proxy-checker
17:03:48
boog900:
The others have changed behaviour as a few nodes in the subnets now pass the spy check but they haven't tried to get all nodes to pass the proxy check.

@zombie:catgirl.cloud: Why such stuff can’t be blocked. They are busy in fighting xmr but never busy in fighting such websites

Cindy:
hi
21:17:00
milas900:matrix.org:
Can I run monero node on hetzner?
21:18:35
kaigoh:gohegan.uk:
@milas900:matrix.org: Don't see why not, especially if you run it over Tor. You'll want an SSD box though.
21:18:54
milas900:matrix.org:
@kaigoh:gohegan.uk: Because I know it’s not allowed on cloud
21:19:11
milas900:matrix.org:
@kaigoh:gohegan.uk: Any tutorial online ?
21:20:00
kaigoh:gohegan.uk:
@milas900:matrix.org: Probably better to use a dedicated machine, like from their server auctions.
21:21:24
kaigoh:gohegan.uk:
@milas900:matrix.org: Here's a good jumping off point: https://sethforprivacy.com/guides/run-a-monero-node/
21:21:50
milas900:matrix.org:
@kaigoh:gohegan.uk: How much it will cost about ?
21:22:59
kaigoh:gohegan.uk:
@milas900:matrix.org: I've not looked recently, but probably around €30 a month. There are other providers out there though, so unless you're dead set on Hetzner, you can shop around.
