Is Wayland all the way there now?
16:18:12
basses:matrix.org:
who knows, X11 users probably are keeping track of wayland progress than wayland users
16:23:52
ravfx:xmr.mx:
But but, Linux is about choice right?
16:25:57
ravfx:xmr.mx:
I do see usecases when X is better (There getting more and more rare now that wayland is a lot less buggy)
16:25:57
ravfx:xmr.mx:
Now it's anoying, because to launch plasma on wayland, I have to first run plasma on X, then "logout" then launch plasma on wayland.
16:25:57
ravfx:xmr.mx:
I know I know, Normally in the industry people do QA but it's missing in that segment (Linux Desktop)
16:27:01
ravfx:xmr.mx:
If I don't do that dance after a reboot, Plasma get stuck in "infiniload" mode
16:29:29
BlueyHealer:
Wait, really?
16:32:10
ravfx:xmr.mx:
Yeah, Distribution is Gentoo.
16:32:10
ravfx:xmr.mx:
Initially I did not have that bug but about one year and a half ago it began to do it.
16:32:10
ravfx:xmr.mx:
I upgraded and recompiled the things many time and it did not fix it so maybe it's some bugged settings somewhere or it's a USE that it don't like and i'm not going to start bruteforce them all
16:33:50
ravfx:xmr.mx:
I think I can also run Plasma on wayland directly and while it infiniload, I can log in another terminal and kill it, then relaunch it. But launching it on it on X first is just less time consuming

br-ds-geld: keeps reconnecting, is this expected (deploying new versions?) or is it network instability?

DataHoarder: how many times did it reconnect? last time I did restart it was an hour ago, some maintenance
19:12:30
DataHoarder:
that was the time, afaik. You can see the logs on Matrix if you unhide joins/parts (my bridge maps that!)
19:14:06
shitpost1337:matrix.org:
if it's 17:39 UTC then it was maintaince, I did restart it a few times, sorry for the inconvenience

the defined builtins still abuse some specific CPU operations that while implemented constant in the past, they don't assure constantness with different flags in the future
22:18:47

at least most vendors "ossified" them as constant given the wide cryptographic use (cmov as example)
